Lahore: The Punjab government on Wednesday announced its decision to reopen restaurants and marriage halls across the province, a news source reported. To this effect, the executive has decided to reopen restaurants after Eid — with marriage hall operations slated for re-commencement during the first week of September.

Punjab Minister for Commerce Mian Aslam Iqbal revealed the said decision during a meeting with various industrialists and businesspersons. He said that the provincial government was in the process of preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to reopening these venues. He further highlighted that the final approval on the matter would come from the federal government.
During the session, the minister took into consideration the problems raised by the industrialists and businesspersons present. Lahore Chambers of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh also took the opportunity to ask for permission to conduct business activities 24/7.

Upon this, the commerce minister explained that he could not yet comment on opening markets 24/7 on Eid. He also directed the LDA, WASA, and other authorities concerned to work on resolving the issues faced by the industrialists and businesspersons. He also prohibited the public departments from harassing these individuals.
