Lahore: The Punjab government on Monday issued new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) following the province-wide resumption of business activities after its announced ease in COVID lockdown restrictions, a news source reported.

As per the publication, it will be mandatory for businesses to display the government-issued SOPs at a prominent place in their shops, which will also be required to have hand-washing facilities and sanitizers. Furthermore, the staff will be required to repeatedly wash their hands.
Other SOPs for SMEs include:
- Cashier to wear polythene gloves while handling cash
- Shops to clean the surfaces using 0.05% chlorine solution
- Waste bins must be placed in the shops
- Unnecessary entry into shops not to be allowed
- Few customers allowed in the shops at a time
- A distance of at least three feet is mandatory
- Goods to be non-returnable
- Home delivery should be preferred
- No air conditioning in closed shops
- Customers are asked to avoid wasting time or loiter around in the shops

The salespeople have been instructed to wash their hands after coming in touch with the products or the customers. The customers will not be able to try on jewellery or garments. Repair and maintenance shops will disinfect every product while receiving and/or returning.
