Lahore: The Punjab government has initiated the pre-qualification selection procedure of contractors for developing the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) in the province, a news source reported.

An official of the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) revealed that the government had previously floated the tenders for inviting experienced firms to undertake house construction and infrastructure development gigs in the said affordable housing scheme.
The provincial government will launch the NPHP project in Chishtian, Lodhran, and Renala Khurd during its inaugural phase. For the second phase, the executive has identified several sites in Layyah, Bhakkar, and Khushab.
Previously, the provincial government had invited applications for inclusion in the scheme from the residents of these districts.

Following the pre-qualification bidding process, the authorities concerned will conduct a balloting process for the allotment of 3 and 5-marla houses. Moreover, the successful applicants would be required to deposit 10% of the total house price, and pay the remaining cost in instalments.
