Bahawalpur: The Punjab government is planning to revive the project to establish an industrial estate in Bahawalpur, according to a news source. This project had lain dormant for a number of years, with the local investors and the Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry calling for its resumption.

Therefore, the Punjab government — under the federal government’s overarching vision of establishing special industrial zones — decided to revive this project. The basic infrastructure for this project has already been earmarked, while the funding for its further development is in progress. This will involve providing amenities, and allotting plots to the businessmen and investors who applied. A source revealed that the Punjab industrial department was already working on this project, on the instructions of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

The name of this industrial estate will be Quaid-e-Azam Business Park, and it is expected to be launched soon. It will cover an area of 1,536 acres and will contain 600 industrial units — complete with residential facilities for the workers.
