Lahore: The provincial government has decided to expand the Punjab Safe City (PSC) project to Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, and Taunsa, a news source reported. Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar made the announcement during a recent meeting of PSC Authority (PSCA).

The Punjab government aims to complete the project under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) instead of a public-private partnership. The CM also directed the relevant authorities to complete the project as early as possible.
According to the project details, Chunian Tehsil will have CCTV cameras installed. CM Buzdar opined that video monitoring is essential for improving the law and order situation, and eliminating crime.
Under the Lahore PSC project, Shahdara Chowk and Thokar Niaz Baig have CCTV cameras installed. Meanwhile, installation of CCTV cameras at all entry and exit points of the city will reach completion in the coming months.

The PSCA meeting approved additional funds for operational purposes of the Lahore PSC project. CM Buzdar concluded that they would soon expand the scope of the PSC project to all of Punjab.
