Lahore: The Punjab Local Government (LG) Department has announced its decision to designate land for residential, commercial and industrial purposes under the proposed land-use regulations for the provincial capital, a news source reported on October 28.

The LG Department intends to notify residential, commercial, and industrial land designations. To facilitate this measure, it has forwarded a summary to a cabinet committee for approval.

According to the details revealed, the government is expected to permit beauty parlours in residential areas, but would prohibit any form of industrial activity in residential localities. The residential, commercial and industrial areas will be completely separated from each other. The department has stressed the need to stringently implement the proposed land-use regulations. Moreover, it has constituted a committee to resolve the issues arising due to the absence of the district and union councils.
