Lahore: The Punjab Government has announced a three-month plantation drive, with various departments participating, according to a news source. The departments involved will plant 12 million trees in this period.
The Prime Minister and Chief Minister Punjab will also plant trees in this drive. This was decided in a meeting held by Chief Secretary Yousaf Naeem Khokhar. He focussed on sanitation issues and planting trees in the province. He also instructed the local secretary to visit various cities to review their cleanliness conditions.
Khokhar emphasised on the role of tree plantation in controlling pollution. He also invited citizens to participate in this drive. Furthermore, he stated that community mobilisation and awareness drives should be launched.
Similar plantation drives have been launched in the past. They have contributed to the country’s environment and beauty significantly. These involve both government departments and citizens so that climate change and pollution can be tackled.
