The authorities may also take action against building inspectors found failing in their duties.
Each building inspector will be responsible for the area under his jurisdiction. Individually, the inspectors will be also able to take action against patwaris found involved in the illegal sale of plots.
The Government of Punjab previously ordered a crackdown against illegal housing schemes operating in Rahim Yar Khan. It had asked the local bodies concerned to share details on illegal housing schemes in the city within three days.
Reportedly, a number of housing schemes in the district were established without seeking formal approval.
