Lahore: Punjab Chief Secretary Azam Suleman Khan recently announced the government’s decision to establish an independent authority to promote tourism in the province, according to news sources.

The authority aims to promote tourism by granting facilities to tourists visiting the province. These include the creation of information centres, management of tour packages, and provision of recreational and residential facilities. Moreover, it will oversee arrangements for the organization of multiple events and festivals, and also providing special training in hospitality education.
Last month, the Punjab government had taken initiatives to restructure the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), in order to promote tourism and culture. This initiative will entail the preservation of historical and cultural buildings across the province. In addition, new tourist spots will be established all over the province.
