Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar on Tuesday provided his approval to the construction of four small dams at the Koh-e-Sulaiman River site to stop water wastage in the area, a news source reported. The CM was chairing a high-level meeting to discuss matters pertaining to the construction of the said facilities.

CM Buzdar gave his approval to start preliminary work on the construction of dams on the site of Koh-e-Sulaiman River. He added that time was required to build these small dams for water storage purposes. The dams would help provide clean drinking water to the people of underdeveloped areas, the CM said. He revealed that the provincial government was considering various options for constructing small dams.

The Punjab CM stated that millions of cusecs of water were lost annually in the river near the Sulaiman Mountains. He highlighted that the proposed small dams were significant for protecting and utilising this water. He added that the first phase of the project comprises a technical study.
