Lahore: The Punjab government on Tuesday announced its decision to close shopping malls, bazaars, and business centres across the province three days ahead of the Eid ul Azha festivities; in order to control the further spread of the coronavirus, a news source reported.

To this effect, the provincial executive has forwarded its proposal to the federal government, which would take the final decision on the matter. In order to prevent unnecessary travel, the Punjab government has also disallowed government employees to take extra leaves for Eid.

On the other hand, the provincial government has finalised the SOPs for Eid prayers. These include performing ablution for the prayers at homes and wearing masks in the mosques. Sources have revealed the government was making extra efforts in light of the coronavirus situation becoming worse after Eid-ul-Fitr – aiming to avoid the same situation this time.
