Lahore: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought a written reply from the Punjab government with regard to the formation of a water commission – a news source reported.

LHC Justice Shahid Kareem heard a petition filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique, who heads the Judicial Activism Panel.
As the proceedings progressed, the petition maintained that the provincial government is not taking adequate measures to conserve water. Moreover, the service stations built on petrol pumps have not been regularised.

The counsel lamented that the government has not clarified its policy with regard to water conservation. He requested the court to issue orders for the formation of a water commission. He added that the proposed body should be established on the pattern of the water commission in Sindh.

In response, Justice Kareem issued a notice to the authorities concerned. He also sought a written reply from the provincial government on the matter.
