Lahore: The Punjab government has approved a revised Project Concept-1 (PC-1) of the Sagian Road project at the request of the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), news sources reported on April 24. The revised plan budget has expanded the project’s scope to include the building and restoration of adjacent areas at a revised cost of PKR 4.45 billion.

In addition to the previously announced initiatives, LDA has asked for PKR 130.46 million in funding for the building and rehabilitation of adjacent regions. Next month, the government will solicit qualified contractors’ expressions of interest (EOIs) for the amended project.
According to the LDA’s revised PC-1, the following projects have been included:
- Rehabilitation and inspection of Ravi Bridge pillars
- Asphalting and carpeting of the Ravi Bridge
- Installation of new protective railing on the bridge and change of steel contactors
- Rehabilitation of the Sagian toll plaza
- Beautification of the Phool Mandi roundabout

Moreover, four roads will be built as part of the project design:
- A 4-kilometre long road from Ravi Bridge to Phool Mandi Chowk
- Phool Mandi to Lahore-Sheikhupura Road
- A 3-kilometre long road from Phool Mandi Chowk to Faizpur Interchange
- A 1.6-kilometre long road from Phool Mandi Chowk to Begum Kot
It is worth noting that the Punjab government authorised a PKR 4.35 billion rehabilitation fund for Sagian Pull. Former Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar laid the project’s foundation stone on February 25 this year.
