Lahore: The Punjab government has sanctioned seven significant development projects, including the solarisation of agricultural tube wells, with a combined worth of over PKR 24 billion, as reported on July 9.

According to the details, chairman of the Planning and Development Board Punjab barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan chaired the meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) on Monday. The meeting was attended by key officials, including Punjab Planning and Development Secretary Dr. Asif Tufail, Punjab Agriculture Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Punjab Communication and Works Secretary Sohail Ashraf, Chief Economist Nasir Iqbal Malik, and other senior representatives from relevant provincial departments.

During the meeting, the following projects were approved:
1. Chief Minister’s Programme for Solarisation of Agricultural TubeWells in Punjab: This project, valued at PKR 9000 million, aims to convert agricultural tube wells to solar power, enhancing energy efficiency and reducing costs for farmers.
2. Protection against Erosive Action for River Chenab: This scheme, costing PKR 848.966 million, will protect areas along the left side of the river in District Hafizabad (Kot Kameer and Behak Ahmad Yar) from erosion.
3. Rehabilitation and Improvement of Faisalabad-Jaranwala Road: The 45-kilometer stretch between Makuana Bypass and Syed Wala Okara Road via Syed Wala Interchange on Motorway M-3 will be upgraded at a cost of PKR 3801 million.
4. Improvement of Ghazi Road in Lahore: Connecting the Lahore Ring Road to Ferozpur Road, this project is allocated PKR 530 million.
5. Rehabilitation of Syedwala to Jaranwala Road: The 12-kilometer road in District Nankana Sahib will be improved at a cost of PKR 1320 million.
6. Rehabilitation of Faisalabad-Satiana-Tandlianwala-Mari Pattan-Okara Road: The 61-kilometer road will be upgraded at a cost of PKR 3451 million.
7. Rehabilitation of Sahiwal Arifwala Road: This 27-kilometer road will receive improvements worth PKR 5490 million.
