Lahore: The Punjab cabinet has approved the construction of low-cost houses in Chishtian, Lodhran and Renala Khurd under the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme (NPHP) initiative – a news source reported.
A meeting of the cabinet took place on Friday. Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar presided over the session. Provincial ministers, secretaries, and other officials concerned, were all present at the occasion.

Under NPHP’s phase one, the provincial government plans to construct 6,000 low-cost houses in the areas mentioned. Moreover, an inauguration ceremony to this effect is expected to take place in the second or third week of February.
The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) recently approved standard operating procedures (SOPs) with regard to this phase of development.
Under these SOPs, PHATA has banned the sale and purchase of NPHP houses for the first five years. Furthermore, the provincial town planning agency has prohibited renting out these units.
