Lahore: The Punjab government has approved the first phase of the Punjab Municipal Services Programme under which it would develop projects at a cost of PKR 27 billion, a news source reported.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar chaired the 17th meeting of the provincial cabinet on Wednesday. The participants informed the chief minister that the first phase of the programme would reach completion by June 2020. It also decided to establish district-level committees for project implementation.
In response, CM Buzdar directed the officials concerned to spend the money collected through toll taxes on road repairs. He also instructed the authorities concerned to provide estimates of the damages to the local infrastructure during the recent floods.

The meeting made the decision to shut down the Lahore Water & Sanitation Company. Additionally, it endorsed the decisions taken during the previous meeting of the provincial cabinet. The meeting also approved the decisions taken during the 12th and 13th meetings of the cabinet’s Standing Committee on Finance and Development.
