Lahore: The Punjab government on Wednesday announced its decision to allow the reopening of shopping malls and restaurants in the province and issued a list of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to regulate their operations, a news source reported. It further stated that malls would be allowed to operate between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, while restaurants will reopen after Eid (with their timings to be announced at a later date).

The authorities concerned have also decided to make it mandatory for citizens to wear masks in crowded places. The Supreme Court (SC) had earlier stated that markets should be allowed to resume their operations around the country. Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed, in his remarks, stated that small traders should not be stopped from opening their shops.

The government has also announced that any police official who gets sick due to coronavirus will receive special allowance and the families of the deceased law-enforcement personnel will be entitled to receive a ‘Shuhada Package’.
