Lahore: The Punjab government has communicated a 44% percent growth in its revenue collected during the first quarter of the current fiscal year, a news source reported. As per officials, the provincial executive – during the first quarter of FY2019-20 – generated PKR 77 billion in terms of revenue.

This information was disclosed during a review meeting of the first quarter organised by the finance department of Chief Minister’s Special Monitoring Unit (SMU). Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakhat presided over the session. Minister for Industry and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal, SMU chief Fazeel Asif, Secretary Finance Abdulah Sumbal, and other officials concerned were all present at the occasion.

Previously, the government had set a PKR 388 billion annual revenue collection target for FY2019-20; which was 44 percent higher than the target set for last fiscal year’s revenue collection.
During the current fiscal year, the finance department also launched an e-Pay application. This service allows the users to pay all the taxes through the use of a single app, and is expected to facilitate the government’s ease-of-doing business initiative.
