Bahawalpur: The Punjab government has allocated funds worth PKR 15.489 billion for initiating 47 mega projects and development schemes pertaining to the agriculture sector, a news source reported. Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Agriculture Lala Muhammad Tahir Randhawa expressed made an announcement to this effect on Wednesday.

The secretary said that these funds would facilitate the modernisation of the province’s agriculture infrastructure, as well as increase the crop yield per hector. These projects were of crucial importance to farming prosperity, he added.

According to Tahir, the economic vision of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Ahmad Khan Buzdar focuses on the goal of ensuring sustainable food security. This task cannot be fulfilled without urgently modernising our agricultural infrastructure, he added.
