Lahore: Governor of Punjab Ghulam Sarwar Khan has issued Punjab Succession Certificates Ordinance, 2021, to facilitate heirs in matters regarding transfers on movable and immovable property, according to news sources.

Under the succession ordinance, the National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) to establish special counters for the deceased’s’ dependents to submit their applications and start the land transfer process. The authority will issue Family Success Certificate (FRC) in accordance with the succession certificate of people’s movable and immovable property.

According to the details released, the heirs can now approach NADRA instead of a court, and submit their transfer applications. Subsequently, an advertisement will be published in two leading English and Urdu national dailies. If no objections are received within 14 days of the publication, land succession certificates will be issued to the heirs by the Biometric Verification Authority. The authority certificate will suffice the court order.
