Islamabad: The Punjab government has signed a grant agreement worth PKR 1,259 million with the National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) to develop flood-protection projects, a news source reported. Following the agreement finalisation, the fund allocations for the provincial disaster management projects have reached PKR 881 million.

A ceremony to this effect took place at the NDRMF office. This facility would create a financial cover for:
- Jalala flood protection bund rehabilitation and restoration efforts
- Protection of Shahpur Chanjora, Fatehpur Gujran and Sukho Chak against the erosive action of Bein Nullah in Narowal
- Rehabilitation of Old Deg Nullah from Deg Diversion Channel to QB Link Canal
- Hajipur Gujran flood protection bund rehabilitation and restoration pursuits

As per reports, these schemes are expected to reach their completion within the next 19-23 months. The development work includes ramp construction, bund and spurs reinforcement, stone-pitching work, and other structural measures in line with the National Flood Protection Plan (NFPP-IV).
