Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhary Parvez Elahi on Thursday released funds worth PKR 12.20 billion in a bid to provide relief to over 55,000 flood affectees in Taunsa, Jampur, Kot Chhata, Rajanpur, and Rojhan, according to news published on November 18.

As per the details of relief efforts, the affectees by recent floods in the province will be provided with financial assistance to repair their houses. The 47,5000 owners of mud houses will be given PKR 280,000 each and 8,000 concrete house owners will be given PKR 400,000.

CM Elahi, while addressing the ceremony of distributing relief funds, stated that credible efforts have been executed by the armed forces, Akhuwat Foundation and other religious non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for the flood victims. He commended all officials who assisted the affectees and noted that Dr Sania Nishtar has supervised the development of a wonderful distribution system in two months.
