Lahore: The Punjab government on Thursday decided to release PKR 144.47 billion for ongoing development schemes in the fiscal year 2021-22, according to media reports.

Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht presided over a review meeting for the Annual Development Programme’s execution (ADP). According to the minister, the release of funds for ongoing development schemes at the start of the year is a significant accomplishment for the province.
Secretary Finance Iftikhar Ali Saho, Secretary Planning and Development Board Imran Sikandar, and other concerned officers from the Planning and Development Board and Finance Department attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed on the current projects. This fiscal year 2021-22 featured 2,274 programmes in several areas such as productive, social, and infrastructural.
In addition, a monitoring mechanism is being established under the Planning and Development Department to ensure that projects are completed on schedule. With the assistance of this system, all departments will fulfil their obligations and remove hurdles in the project’s timely completion.

Furthermore, the Directorate General of Monitoring and Evaluation will ensure the quality of projects is transparent and impartial.
