Lahore: The Punjab government has released PKR 4.10 billion for the development of road infrastructure projects in various parts of Lahore including the signal-free corridor linking Centre Point with the Defence Housing Authority, news sources reported on December 22. The funds have been deposited into the Punjab Planning & Development (P&D) account.

The source reported that a total of PKR 4.60 billion has been included in the Annual Development Program (ADP) for the construction of new and rehabilitation of dilapidated roads in the city to ease the commute. The most prominent of these projects is the Signal Free Corridor linking Centre Point with Defense Morr.

Under the project, a full-height underpass will be built at Khalid Butt Chowk near Cavalry Ground. Additionally, a single-way three-lane flyover will also be built at Ghoda Chowk towards Defense Mor. The completion of the project will result in a signal-free corridor for the traffic coming to and from Gulberg, Defence and Cavalry ground, reducing the commute time. A new U-turn will be added at the Center Point.
