Faisalabad: The Government of Punjab has finalised its plans for planting saplings on land owned by the Forest Department, reported a news source. The Forest Department will plant 5 million saplings on its 6,500 acres of spare land in the province.

Work on the plantation project will start this month, while the department to meet its 5 million sapling plantation target in two years. Under this project, 1.1 million saplings will be planted in Faisalabad alone. For this purpose, the forest department has identified 1,500 acres of land.

The project is part of Prime Minister’s Clean and Green Initiative. By planting these saplings, the provincial government also hopes to bring down the levels of air pollution.
Under this particular plantation drive, the Forest Department will plant Neem, Sukh Chain, Sheesham (rosewood), Beri (jujube) and Jambolan saplings.
