Rawalpindi: Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Mian Mahmood ur Rashid recently revealed that the Government of Punjab has proposed for the adoption of the ‘same building rules and regulations across the board’ – to be followed by all the land development authorities established in Punjab’s provincial districts, according to a news source published on September 13.

The minister made these remarks while inaugurating the first conference of chairmen and directors general (DG) of Punjab’s land development authorities, held under the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
Moreover, the minister also revealed that the rules will soon be formulated to enable the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) to prepare low-cost housing schemes. He said that the government is preparing for a joint venture, in this regard, that empowers the government-agencies to collaborate with private partners.

Furthermore, Rashid said that a committee would be formulated to be presented with proposals for the finalisation and implementation of rules – once the provincial cabinet reaches a decision. He expressed hope that the implementation of these rules will greatly boost the revenue generation capacity of these land development authorities.
