Lahore: The Punjab government recently finalised the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for reopening public transport before eid — a news source reported. Transport services will become operational from May 21 to May 24; allowing people to travel home to celebrate the end-of-Ramzan festival with their families.

The SOPs have been prepared in consultation with the transporters community, the Transport Department, and the Deputy Commissioners.

The SOPs for opening public transport are as follows:
- The transporters will not allow overloading
- All travellers and bus staff will wear masks
- Buses will be regularly sprayed with disinfectants
- Sanitizer walk-through gates will be installed at bus terminals
- Passengers will be checked for fever before boarding the bus
- People with symptoms like cough, runny nose, or fever will not be allowed on the buses
- Air Conditioners will not be used
- Passenger trains will also be operational during this period. The Pakistan Railways’ staff have been asked to be prepared for this purpose.
