Lahore: The Punjab government recently announced its decision to expand the Chief Minister Insaaf Employment Scheme — with the initiative aimed at increasing the limit of interest-free loans for people to start new businesses, according to news sources.

The provincial government will be collaborating with the non-profit organization called Akhuwat, with the draft of the agreement between the two parties to be prepared in accordance with the recommendations provided by a government sub-committee, the law department, PEPRA, and board members.
The aforementioned decisions were made during the 110th meeting of the Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) that was chaired by Punjab Minister for Industries and Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal. The session attendees were informed that the skilled yet unemployed youth of the province would receive interest-free loans under the Chief Minister Insaaf Employment Scheme, and that 2.9 million people had already availed this opportunity.

The PSIC is set to develop a monitoring cell to oversee the transparent implementation of the scheme, while the officials concerned have received instructions to set up an online dashboard as well.
Furthermore, the meeting approved the establishment of small industrial estates in Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali and Jhang, and also decided to sell off various PSIC-owned vacant properties.
