Rawalpindi: The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department is set to offer an instalments facility to property taxpayers in view of the coronavirus situation prevailing within the country, a news source reported today (July 7). The PT-1 notices, to officiate the development, will be issued in two instalments cycles.

According to details, the decisions were taken in a high-level meeting chaired by the Punjab Secretary Excise Ahmad Balal. The meeting also decided to withdraw the surcharge on late payments for the ongoing year. Additionally, the increase in property tax has been limited to 5% instead of 10%.
The department has made the decisions to facilitate the public that is already affected by the prevailing coronavirus pandemic and the ensuing lockdown.

Punjab Excise and Taxation Department Director General (DG) Akram Ashraf has issued instructions for the implementation of these decisions to all the relevant directors and officers of the department.
The excise department is currently in the process of computing property taxes to be collected during the new fiscal year.
