Lahore: The Punjab Excise, Taxation & Narcotics Control Department (ETNCD) has decided to send tax notifications to property tax defaulters across Punjab, news sources reported on October 10.

The department will notify 50,580 tax defaulters throughout the province, including residents of the provincial capital Lahore. According to the details released by the tax department, the tax notifications are an effort to bring more people under the tax net and enhance tax revenue for the national exchequer. The initiative will yield PKR 7 billion for the government, the vast bulk of which is expected to come from long-term defaulters. The total number of property tax defaulters and the amount projected to be collected from them are broken down below:
- PKR 2.4 billion will be recovered from 1,500 property owners of Lahore
- PKR 2.5 billion will be recovered from Faisalabad
- PKR 1.8 billion will be recovered from Rawalpindi

The Excise Department has asked the relevant formations to provide a complete record of the property tax defaulters to the headquarter by tomorrow (October 12), along with the reason for not recovering the tax amount.
It is important to note that ETNCD has revised its tax targets for the tax year 2022. The department has actively pursued property tax defaulters through special teams.
