Lahore: Chief Minister (CM) Parvez Elahi has launched the Ehsaas Ration Programme, worth PKR 100 billion, to facilitate eight million families in Punjab, according to news published on October 3.

According to details, CM Elahi inaugurated the Ehsaas Ration Programme at a general store in Shadman Market, Lahore. Talking about the initiative, the chief minister revealed that the programme was launched with a substantial amount of PKR 100 billion. He also added that the funds for the programme might be increased if need be.
Chairperson of Punjab Ehsaas Programme Senator Dr Sania Nishtar, CM’s Adviser on Information Omar Sarfaraz and former Federal Minister Moonis Elahi accompanied the minister.
Under this initiative, the deserving families will get cooking oil and ghee, flour, and pulses at a subsidised rate of 40% from the stores registered under the programme. He went on to say that the scope of the said programme is extended to every street and town in the province. The families in South Punjab affected by the recent floods are also registered under the initiative.

Moreover, CM Elahi disclosed that the registration will continue for two weeks. He stated that 80,000 families registered with the programme within one hour of launch. Dr Sania Nishtar stated that the registration of families has been launched across Punjab. She also mentioned that the registration process has been made simple so people might not face any difficulty. The head of the family can get the family registered by sending an SMS on 8123 containing their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) number. Another way to register is through the web portal of Ehsaas Punjab.
