Lahore: The Punjab government has announced its decision to double the financial assistance amount for deserving minorities, according to a news source. It has increased this ceiling from PKR 5,000 to PKR 10,000 per person, in addition to drafting a plan for the security and renovation of churches.

Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine announced these decisions while addressing a function where he disbursed relief cheques among the Christian community at the Tehsil Council Hall Sahiwal.
Augustine also stated that the government was planning to resolve the issues faced by minority communities on a priority basis. He also revealed that over 171 members of the Christian community in the Sahiwal District had received financial assistance cheques worth PKR 10,000 per person.

Additionally, the minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was taking a personal interest in preserving the rights of minorities and giving them their due rights.
