Lahore: The Punjab Local Government and Community Development (LGCD) department has decided to digitise the bidding and tendering system throughout the province, the news sources reported on March 7.

The system will be implemented in collaboration with the Bank of Punjab (BOP) for smart E-governance solutions. The decision was announced by Punjab Minister for Local Government and Community Development (LGCD) Minister, Ibrahim Hassan Murad during a meeting. The minister said that the e-solutions will transform the department into a model system. Under the system, the Punjab government will also digitise bidding and tendering systems, and services and payments will be computerised to maintain transparency.
Moreover, the paper trail and manual system will be replaced with a computerised system for better record management and prevention of fraud.

It is pertinent to mention that the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) in association with the World Bank (WB) has launched the digital land record system. The system is part of the government’s push for digital and innovative governance to expedite service delivery and reduce bureaucratic hindrances in public sector organisations.
