Lahore: The Punjab Community Safety Buildings Regulations 2022 have been notified under the Punjab Community Safety Act 2021, according to notification shared by Rescue 1122 on April 25.

As per the notification, the building owners are required to submit duly filled applications for issuance of Safety Measure Certificate for buildings taller than 50 feet (measured from the lowest level).
The application form can be downloaded from www.rescue.gov.pk, while it has to be submitted at the office of District Emergency Officer. The last date to submit an application is May 30, 2022.
The new regulations require developers to share specifications on safety measures installed in buildings taller than 50 feet. The developers must arrange for the following:
• Emergency exits and staircases
• Exit signs
• Working hydrant systems
• Automatic sprinkler system
• Fire extinguishers of various kinds and fire classifications
• First Aid box and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Heating, ventilation and air conditioning system
• Clear emergency paths and corridors
• Evacuation plans, emergency areas and drills

After complete satisfaction with the stipulated measures, the Rescue 1122 safety officer will issue the certificate for one year, renewable at the end of each cycle. Readers can access the details of the regulations here:
