Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Pervaiz Elahi on Monday (September 12) constituted a committee for the privatisation of government-owned assets across the province, news sources reported.

According to reports, the newly-constituted committee would provide a thorough report to the provincial cabinet regarding the sale of assets worth PKR 100 million. However, the final approval will be provided by the provincial cabinet. The administration has decided to sell the assets to raise revenue for the province’s development and welfare programmes. The cabinet also approved the following development projects at the meeting:
- Expansion of the Ehsaas Ration Scheme with a 40% discount on edible oil, sugar, and flour for the deserving families
- Doubling the per capita amount of food for children, girls, and the elderly living in welfare institutions, managed by Social Welfare Department
