Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar visited the head office of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to inspect their operations, and made suggestions to improve various functions of the PDMA and bodies associated with it on Thursday, according to a news source.

He directed employees at the office to improve the early warning system for natural disasters to make it more effective. The CM felt the authority had room to improve the ways in which they deal with the threat of natural disasters.
He instructed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to speed up the process of water drainage and to use all resources at their disposal for water removal. The traffic police was told to keep vehicular traffic flowing without interruptions.

The PDMA’s scope is to gradually be expanded to district level. In the meeting he presided over, Buzdar guaranteed the authority that the required resources for this shift will be provided in a timely manner. Additionally, a proposal to introduce groundwater recharging systems in urban areas was discussed, and drain-water harvesting technology was reviewed.
