As per detail, this move is a part of the government’s broader effort to provide affordable homes to middle- and lower-income families in semi-urban areas. During the ninth meeting of the Punjab Cabinet’s Standing Committee on Legislation, the Department of Housing and Urban Development presented an in-depth briefing on the progress of housing projects in Lahore, Sargodha, and Chiniot. These low-cost units, ranging up to three marlas in size, are designed to meet the growing demand for affordable housing.
The committee has directed the Department of Housing to expedite the completion of these housing projects. An immediate release of funds has been ordered to ensure the timely construction and delivery of homes. The final approval from the Punjab Cabinet is awaited, after which these projects will be fully integrated into CM Maryam Nawaz’s flagship ‘Apna Chhat Apna Ghar’ program.
