Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday directed the officials concerned to prepare a housing policy for the low-income segments of the society on a priority basis, according to news sources. Further, he sought a feasible plan for the provision of affordable residential facilities to the said demographic within a time frame of two weeks.

He expressed his views on the matter during a meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Office. Minister for Housing Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Finance Minister Hashim Jawan Bakht, Advisor to the CM Dr Salman Shah, and other officials concerned were all present at the occasion.

The chief minister said that the provincial executive would construct low-cost houses for the people who live below the poverty line. He added that these units would be developed under a public-private partnership model. He opined that coordinated planning efforts should be made to facilitate the development a public sector business model and social housing policy.
