Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar recently paid a surprise visit to the Dharabi Lake in Chakwal and inspected the progress on its development as a tourist spot, according to news sources.
CM Buzdar also reviewed other activities launched in the area to promote tourism. He said that a rest-house/resort would be constructed along with the development of the link roads at a cost of PKR 80 million.

He was of the view that the development of the lake would promote the hatchery industry and water sports will also be benefitted from the project. He expressed the hope that this development project with its improved road network would ensure livelihood opportunities and boost economic circle for the locals.
In an earlier development, the provincial department announced Chakwal as Punjab’s official lake district. The district is a valley of lakes and – with its fertile lush-green fertile lands, forests and mountains, wildlife, culture and history – has the potential to attract tourists from all over the world.

The Tourism Department also plans to convert Chakwal as Punjab’s official Lake District. Chakwal is a district comprising lakes, springs, lush-green fertile fields, mountains, forests as well as wildlife sanctuaries. This combined with its ancient history and culture makes Chakwal an exciting prospect for a tourist destination in Punjab.
