Lahore: Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar recently launched the Nai Zindagi program and the Punjab Human Capital Investment Project (PHCIP) at a total cost of PKR 53.25 billion — with both ventures having been initiated by the Punjab Social Protection Authority under the auspices of the Punjab Ehsaas Programme, a news source reported on September 13.

While providing additional details regarding the said projects, the CM stated that the Nai Zindagi program was being launched in order to provide treatment facilities for acid-attack survivors. This is expected to involve the provision of support and dignified living quarters to the unfortunate victims of this crime.
CM Buzdar further said that, as part of the aforementioned program, several state-of-the-art burn units had been established at the Jinnah and Mayo Hospital in Lahore, Victoria Hospital in Bahawalpur, Nishtar Hospital in Multan, Allied Hospital in Faisalabad and the Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi.

He added that even though funds worth PKR 200 million had initially been allocated for the Nai Zindagi program, this amount would also be utilized to provide skills training and self-employment opportunities to acid-attack survivors.
