Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced the formation of a committee under the guidance of the provincial finance minister, which will review the DC rates of properties and submit its recommendations within 15 days – according to news sources.
CM Buzdar made this announcement when he was presiding over a meeting in his office on Monday. He reviewed proposals regarding the performance of the Housing & Urban Development Department, and strategies to offer better and improved facilities to citizens. The department appraised the CM of its performance, and their plans to make further improvements in time.

The CM stressed the need for the Housing & Urban Development department to acknowledge the important role it has to play, and to adapt to modern techniques in order to offer better amenities to citizens. The department was directed to focus on contemporary urban planning and development.
CM Buzdar added that the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) will be granted autonomy and the status of an independent authority. He issued directions to the concerned officials to draw up a financial plan in this regard. He also demanded concrete recommendations concerning the matter of commercialisation in residential areas.

The CM announced the formation of an Aab-e-Pak Authority that will be tasked with the provision of clean water in the province. The previously constituted Saaf Pani Company will be handing over assets to the new authority soon.
Minister Buzdar said that a mega sewerage scheme will be installed in Lahore to upgrade the city’s current system in place.
