Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif led a meeting focused on implementing sustainable development models with support from the UK’s Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), as claimed in a news source on March 23.

According to the details, CM Maryam stressed the importance of gathering socio-economic data in Punjab through the Socio-Economic Registry Programme for effective government planning and emphasised monitoring service delivery and good governance for public welfare.
Collaboration with FCDO was highlighted for initiatives covering health, education, waste management, climate change, and clean drinking water provision. Efforts to boost local government revenue by 50% were emphasised, along with proposals to address deficiencies in rural health centres through mobile health units.
Furthermore, sustainable waste management was prioritised due to inadequate garbage collection and landfill sites. Improving education quality and teacher training and providing basic facilities to schools by 2018 were also emphasised.

CM Maryam reiterated the focus on revenue increase, short-medium, and long-term development projects, pledging collaborative efforts to enhance school enrolment, education quality, and infrastructure. Various officials, including Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Former Senator Pervaiz Rashid, and School Education Provincial Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, attended the meeting.
