Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Sardar Usman Buzdar has announced a number of measures to support farmers in the province, according to a news source. He said that the current government had fulfilled a long-standing demand of farmers by increasing the support-prices of sugarcane and wheat.

He said that more than 100-percent increase had been notified for the agriculture sector in the provincial budget announcement. He noted that an amount of PKR 40.76 billion had been earmarked for the development of agricultural sector in the current budget.

The CM added that the farmers’ welfare was the top priority of the government. He said that the farmers were allowed to establish stalls in 32 model bazaars for directly selling their produce. He stated that farmers would be provided free spaces as part of the government’s efforts to facilitate the sale of their products in model bazaars and vegetable markets.
