Rawalpindi: Divisional Commissioner (DC) Rawalpindi Liaquat Ali Chattha has announced the commencement of an audit of building plans for 166 structures in Murree, news sources reported on February 27.

During the drive, building plans for both commercial and residential structures in Murree will be audited, and any violations of building codes will result in the cancellation of architectural designs. DC Chattha directed the local government to focus on a cleanliness drive in the city and to monitor cleaning staff, ensuring an ideal cleanliness system for tourists. He said that the provincial government is also working to improve roads and water facilities in the area, aiming to provide a tourist-friendly environment for locals and visitors. He encouraged the hotels and restaurants to adopt hygienic conditions on their premises and offer quality food to customers.

It is important to note that Murree is one of the most popular hill stations in the country, with tourists flocking to the area all year round. Recently, it has been announced as a separate district with its own local administration responsible for managing local businesses and regulation of building plans separating it from the Rawalpindi division.
