Lahore: The Government of Punjab on Monday earmarked PKR 500 million in the budget for the development of the Shahkam Chowk Flyover – to be built near Mohlanwal, a news source reported. The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has begun preparing the project’s feasibility report.

Considering the traffic issues in the area, the LDA had planned the project previously but was scrapped before it could be launched. However, Punjab government has now dedicated a requisite budget to launch it.
Consequently, the LDA has also launched the traffic, environment, land acquisition and design study for the project. The allocated amount will be used to complete the feasibility study, prepare the PC-1 and consultancy.

Initially, the authority begun preparation of the environmental impact report of the Shahkam Chowk Flyover. It also invited stakeholders to listen to their objections on the environmental impact. The project has been estimated to cost around PKR 3.8 billion – while the majority of this amount will be allocated during the Budget 2022-23.
