Sahiwal: The Punjab Board of Revenue (BoR) has allocated a 114-kanal state-owned land tract on a 50-year lease to the Divisional Public School (DPS) and College for campus extension purposes in order to accommodate the institutions growing number of students, according to news sources.

The BoR has allocated the land in Chak 87/9-L of the Sahiwal tehsil. As per the orders of deputy secretary (Colonies), the revenue board finalised the deal at a rate of PKR 5,000 per acre, per annum. The land allocation notification also obligates the DPS administration to initiate project construction within 18 months.

According to sources, the efforts for this move were made by a senior bureaucrat and a senior BoR member. It was highlighted that the extension plan was prepared while the said member was operating as Sahiwal’s commissioner.
Reportedly, it was also announced that the two-storey DPS College will be constructed with its own resources in the next two years. The school’s board of governors will approve the construction layout and financial plan for the project.
