Lahore: The Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order on Wednesday provided its approval to a proposal for reopening all the shrines managed by the Auqaf Department under a series of anti-COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) communicated by the health department, according to news sources.

The committee made this decision in a meeting held at the Civil Secretariat; chaired by Minister for Law and Social Welfare Basharat Raja. During the meeting, the reports of possible acts of terror, COVID-19 SOPs and security arrangement for congregational gatherings were reviewed in detail.

The divisional commissioners and regional police officials informed other attendees about the effective security plans and implementation of SOPs for religious occasions. The meeting was informed that all federal and provincial law enforcement agencies would closely monitoring all public and residential areas.
In response, Law and Social Welfare Minister Basharat Raja urged the Rawalpindi administration to enforce SOPs for tourists who plan to visit Murree during the Eid holidays.
