Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved several major development projects worth over PKR 24 billion, as reported on July 10.

According to the details, the meeting, chaired by Barrister Nabeel Awan allocated approximately PKR 9 billion for the solar power systems project aimed at enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural practices in the province. In addition to this, the PDWP approved a series of other significant projects. Among them is a scheme to protect the left bank of the River Chenab from erosion in the Hafizabad district, specifically at Kot Kameer and Behak Ahmad Yar, with an estimated cost of PKR 848.97 million. The rehabilitation and improvement of the Faisalabad-Jaranwala road, a 45 km stretch from Makuana bypass to Syedwala Okara road via Syedwala Interchange Motorway M-3, were also approved with a budget of PKR 3.8 billion.

Another notable project sanctioned is the rehabilitation and improvement of Ghazi Road, connecting Ring Road to Ferozepur Road in Lahore district, at a cost of PKR. 530 million. Additionally, the PDWP approved road rehabilitation projects in Nankana Sahib district (PKR. 1.32 billion), Okara district (PKR. 3.451 billion), and Sahiwal district (PKR. 5.49 billion), reflecting a strong focus on improving infrastructure across the province. The meeting was attended by key officials including P&D Board Secretary Dr. Asif Tufail, Agriculture Department Secretary Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Chief Economist Nasir Iqbal Malik, and other concerned officers.
