Previously, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Usman Buzdar had inaugurated the ‘Insaf Afternoon Schools’ programme to provide education to children who were not going to school. The government revived Urdu as a medium of teaching and English was decided to be taught as a subject. The education level was limited to the primary level for these institutions. Last year in November, the provincial government had released a list of 577 Insaf Afternoon Schools from 22 districts of Punjab.
