Lahore: Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar recently approved a new timings schedule applicable to all the general and grocery stores in the province — with the initiative aimed at preventing further coronavirus spread, according to news sources.

As per the newly released schedule, the general stores and grocery stores in the province are to remain open from 9 am to 5 pm — with the restriction also expected to help control panic buying and hoarding practices. However, the medical stores and pharmacies will not have to abide by these timing restrictions.

The new schedule shall be enforced from April 1. Prime Minister Imran Khan, in his recent address, has issued a strict warning to hoarders, and those involved in selling commodities on inflated rates, that strict action will be taken against them. The premiere also applied to philanthropists and welfare organisations to donate generously and take daily wagers into account in their initiatives amid the coronavirus disease spread.
